Small Business WA: The latest WA grants & schemes

Latest updates on the Small Business WA website:

  • The Small Business Rental Relief package - Tenant Rent Relief Scheme announced as part of the Level 1 COVID-19 Business Assistance Packages will be open for applications after 4pm (AWST) on Thursday 10 March on the Small Business WA website.

  • Also, a reminder that the Level 1 Small Business Assistance Grant - December 2021 is still open (relates to the period of restrictions from from 23 December 2021 to 4 January 2022). Applications close at midnight on Thursday 31 March 2022 (AWST). You can apply on the Smarty Grants website.

  • The application process for the remaining Small Business Rental Relief package and the Level 2 COVID-19 Business Assistance Packages is being finalised. Level 2 - Small Business Hardship Grants will be open by Thursday 17 March on the website.

Level 2 COVID-19 Businesses Assistance Packages - more details to be released soon

1. Small Business Hardship Grants

To be eligible for the Small Business Hardship Grants, businesses must:

  • Have a valid and active Australian Business Number (ABN).

  • Have an Australia-wide payroll of less than $4 million.

  • Be able to demonstrate a 50 per cent reduction in revenue for any two-week consecutive period between 1 January 2022 to 30 April 2022, compared to the equivalent period in 2021. An alternative period in 2021 may be used if the business did not operate at that time or it provides an inaccurate representation of the business' financial situation.

The payments will be made according to business size:

  • Sole traders (non employing businesses) will be eligible for payments of $3,000

  • Micro businesses, with one to five employees, will be eligible for payments of $7,500

  • Small businesses, with six to 19 employees, will be eligible for payments of $20,000

  • Medium sized businesses employing 20 people or more, will be eligible for payments of $50,000

Received funding from other recent business support programs? That’s ok. You can still receive grants from the Level 2 package if you are eligible.

2. Payroll tax waiver / tax relief for large hospitality businesses

Larger hospitality businesses that have a turnover of between $4 million and $20 million will be eligible for a three-month payroll tax waiver if they have experienced at least a 50 per cent drop in turnover over any four week period between January 1, 2022 and April 30, 2022, comparable to the same period last year.
